Baby Must-Haves I Truly Couldn’t Live Without

As a first-time mom, creating my baby registry felt completely overwhelming. There are thousands of “must-have” baby products online, but after actually living through the newborn stage, sleepless nights, feeding schedules, diaper blowouts, tummy time, travel days, and everything in between, I quickly learned which products were genuinely worth it and which ones collected dust.

Every single item linked in this post is something I personally own, used throughout our baby’s first year, and would 100% buy again. These aren’t random trending products or generic recommendations. they’re the real baby registry essentials that made our lives easier, more organized, more comfortable, and honestly more enjoyable during the chaos of early motherhood.

From newborn necessities and feeding favorites to sleep products, diaper bag essentials, travel must-haves, and everyday baby gear, these are the products I truly cannot imagine surviving our baby year without.

If you’re building your baby registry and wondering what’s actually worth adding, this list is filled with tried-and-true favorites that real moms genuinely use daily.

I hope these recommendations help make your baby registry simpler, more intentional, and filled with products you’ll genuinely love using every day.

Diapering:

  1. Skip Hop Baby Changing Pad: nothing was more important to me than quick, easy clean ups in the first year and I am glad I found this alternative to the keekaroo peanut pad that i was eyeing but also couldn’t imagine spending $150+ on a pad that just cleans my baby’s bum! This is a great alternative and arguably has all the same functions + a removable toy bar for distractions during changes!
  2. Diaper Genie Complete Diaper Pail: 13 months later & we still use this and it has zero odor! my only complaint is that it doesn’t hold that many diapers, but also is that really a bad thing? I feel like that’s how odor sticks! Also, the bags for this pail can be kind of pricey, but amazon sells great dupes.
  3. diaper cream spatulas: as someone that haaaates when things get under their nails, the spatulas were crucial for me. Super easy application & also very easy to clean after each use!
  4. Boudreaux’s Butt Paste: honorable mention but this cleared every rash so quickly for us!
  5. honest wipes: haven’t found any other wipe that is quite like it! Super moist and gentle.
  6. teddy caddy: perfect for multi-story homes or your bed-side!

bath time essentials

  1. skip hop infant tub: our daughter loved this! we switched to a sit-up seat once she was strong enough to hold herself up well, but this held up well the first 6 months and was easy to clean!
  2. muslin towels: these are so soft and high quality!
  3. muslin washcloths: we loved these for burp cloths and also soaking in her warm bath water and using as a blanket during bath time. you’re going to want multiple packs to stash across your house.
  4. organic cotton terry cloth washcloths: we use these for bath time and face washes – i feel like they’re soft, while still gently exfoliating for a good clean.
  5. tubby todd all over ointment: 100% WORTH THE HYPE AND THE STEEP PRICE TAG!! THE CONTAINERS LAST FOREVER AND THIS IS MAGIC IN A BOTTLE ON OUR BABY’S SKIN.
  6. ELECTRIC NAIL FILE: self-explanatory if you’re like me and too scared to cut your sweet baby’s delicate little nails!

Sleep time:

  1. newton bassinet: we loved this bassinet! most importantly, it’s safe & has a breathable mattress. its easily compatible with most bassinet sheets. we loved that it was adjustable in height and also that the side was able to drop down for easy middle of the night feeds & changes.
  2. hatch baby sound machine: would buy over and over and over again, but you don’t have to because hatch is the best and if something goes wrong on your device they are proactive and send you a completely new one – insane customer service imo!
  3. hatch go portable sound machine: we have loved this for on the go! it’s been beneficial when we go out to dinner or are just in a noisy, overstimulating place for a baby!
  4. egg touch light: whenever people ask me what is a MUST for baby, i easily say this silly little light! very versatile – we used it in the hospital, during the new born sleepless nights, & still sometimes use it if our daughter wakes in the middle of the night and needs to be re-settled or a diaper change without fully waking her up with overhead light!
  5. love to dream swaddle: i reco getting a few different swaddles to try, including this one! our daughter loved this one because she had very wiggly arms that would often wake her out of her sleep.

Feeding:

  1. momcozy silicone bottle brushes kit: feels so much cleaner to me than a traditional bottle brush and comes with a travel case for on-the-go cleans
  2. ubbi vertical drying rack: super convenient and easy to clean!
  3. collapsable dish basin: when we switched to mostly bottle feeds, this basin was convenient for collecting bottles throughout the day & soaking them before a thorough clean.
  4. Momcozy KleanPal Pro Baby Bottle Washer: would normally not push for this as it’s not a ‘necessity’ and comes with a pricey tag, but we quickly realized we needed the help of an actual washer when she started daycare. This made our lives a whole lot easier washing bottles daily.
  5. Philips Avent Natural Response Baby Gift Set: our babe’s fave bottles! i felt like our baby adapted to these really well from breast feeding.
  6. snuggle me organic nursing pillow: we have loved this pillow! great for nursing & also dually used for tummy time

Nursery organization:

  1. hanger + clip combo (linked individually): we found this to be the most efficient way to match her tiny little outfits together with matching tops & bottoms, hair accessories, socks, etc.
  2. drawer organizers + drawer dividers (linked individually): similarly to the above, these are great for organizing dresser or changing table drawers. we love these for a diaper drawer, misc. items drawer, bathing, small clothing items, etc.
  3. label maker: you don’t think you need it, but you do! this has been a huge help for organizing her dresser, but also for labeling things like bottles, pacifiers, etc. for daycare. this one we LOVe and it connects via bluetooth to an app in your phone!
  4. Miss Mouth’s Messy Eater Stain Treater Spray: obbbbviously! 😉 it actually works wonders and has saved so many outfits from blowouts.
